President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, has said the Students’ Loan Application system was being developed in a such that there is no communication between the loan administrators and the beneficiaries.
Gbajabiamila stated that preparations were being made to launch the initiative in January 2024 so that Nigerian students might qualify for the loan “to fund their educational aspirations.”
On Friday, he spoke at the 35th convocation of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) in Lagos, Nigeria, on the topic of “Empowering Nigerian Youths in the Present Day Economy.”
Gbajabiamila added that to make the process simple, “applicants will apply online, be verified online and credited based on the verifiable documents and credentials they submitted.”
According to him, “Nobody will need to know anybody to qualify for these loans so that access to this financing will be genuinely egalitarian.”
Tinubu recently enacted the Student Loan Bill.
The President signed a bill guaranteeing that no student will be forced to withdraw from college because of financial difficulties.
Tinubu pledged that his administration would provide schools with adequate funding so that they could fulfill their missions.
