The troops of Operation Haderin Daji in the Northwest zone have neutralized suspected terrorists in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to a statement released by OPHD spokesman Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, captives were recovered by the army in both the Faskari and Batsari Local Government Areas of the State.
“Furthermore, troops’ aggressive actions led to the neutralization of militants in Bali Local Government Area in Taraba State. In response to bandit activity, troops were dispatched to the Tangaza LGA in Sokoto State, the Malumfashi LGA in Zamfara State, and the Danmusa LGA in Katsina State.
A combat patrol was carried out in the Tangaza LGA of Sokoto State, while an alleged impersonator was apprehended in the Mallam Madori LGA of Jigawa State, according to the statement.
On 13 November 2023, forces in the Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State captured five alleged terrorists after receiving a tip. Initial investigations have linked the individuals to the terrorist attack on Sayaya village on November 23rd of this year, which took place in the same LGA.
“On the 13th and 14th of November, 2023, troops in the Faskari and Batsari Local Government Areas of the State successfully interdicted and rescued eleven kidnapped hostages.”

“In three separate operations on November 18 and 19, 2023, military responded to reports of bandit activity in the Maru, Malumfashi, and Danmusa Local Government Areas of the Zamfara and Katsina States. After exchanging gunfire, the troops killed four of the bandits and freed two captives.
One AK-47 rifle with 13 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, three cellphones, a motorcycle, and N18,560.00 were all found and recovered by the forces.
The statement went on to say that on November 20th, 2023, troops conducted a fighting patrol in the Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State and made contact with bandits, engaging them in fire and killing four of them while recovering two locally made pistols, one long Dane gun, five empty cases of 7.62mm special ammo, four mobile phones, and destroying two motorcycles.

The document went on to say that on November 17, 2023, the air component of Operation Haderin Daji carried out air interdiction on the Lalbi Nagogo enclave, which was home to a wanted terrorist leader.
Location: Danmusa Local Government Area, Katsina State. Once it was established that the terrorist and his foot men were present, rockets and cannons were fired at the area. Damage reports from the battle showed that some terrorists were eliminated and many buildings were destroyed.
“The military neutralized 20 terrorists, apprehended 20 terrorists and rescued 83 kidnapped hostages. One long Dane gun, two locally produced handguns, seven mobile phones, five motorcycles, four magazines, a total of seventy-two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, five empty cases of rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and five motorcycles were also retrieved by the troops.
“All recovered objects, detained individuals and rescued hostages were handed over to the proper authority for further steps. Prosecution is one example of these measures.
