The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, says space, science and technology will be vital to implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Nnaji made these remarks during his first visit to the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) in Abuja, where he also toured the facilities.
To further national development and technical progress, the minister cited the space agency’s strategic roles in utilizing space, science, and technology.
He claims that the country is now seen as a leader in space exploration and research thanks to the space agency’s tremendous accomplishments, which have been felt across the country and among the diaspora.
There is little doubt that the current leadership at Renewed Hope for Nigerians will increase the agency’s efforts to improve food security, personal safety, economic growth, and job opportunities in the country.
A nation’s technological growth is limited only by its capacity for space exploration and development.
A successful space program, he explained, is important for Nigeria’s economic and international standing.
He added that he wanted to get information from the space agency that would help him make decisions that would get him closer to his goals.
The minister praised the agency’s management for its successes and its proactive approach to finding new funding opportunities, such as the commercialization of research products and public-private collaborations.
Dr. Halilu Shaba, Director-General of NASRDA, had previously praised the minister, noting that the visit is evidence of the significance placed on the strategic role of science, innovation, and technology in creating the future.
Shaba praised the minister’s forward-thinking management approach, saying that the agency would make the most of the minister’s experience and enthusiasm to further Nigeria’s space programs.
But he promised that the agency would always work to advance satellite technology and space exploration for the sake of the country.
