At the home of Zaki Tule Nyam, a traditional ruler in Logo LGA, the Benue State Police Command claimed to have rescued two kidnapped victims.
In a statement released on Sunday in Makurdi, police spokeswoman Catherine Anene made the revelation.
According to Anene, the operation was launched when the Logo Police Division received information that a group of bandits with hazardous weapons had mobilized, raided a market in Mchia, Logo LGA, and abducted two merchants.
According to her, the police responded on the direction of Commissioner of Police George Chuku, who ordered the deployment of tactical units to raid the area and ensure the release of the victims.
According to her account, the two victims were rescued from the home of tax collector Zaki Tule Nyam on November 25, 2023.
The victims claimed that they had been held hostage for one week and that their families had been offered N10 million in ransom.
As a result, Zaki Nyam and seventeen other suspects were detained inside the property. A Dane rifle and a matchet were found on them.
