On Saturday, operatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) stormed a lounge in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, where an evening party was being planned for the usage of illicit substances, and detained several of the organizers who were found in possession of drug exhibits.
After a raid on Thursday, NDLEA agents found and confiscated 156 kilograms of cannabis sativa in Area 5 of the Ile-Ife Forest Reserve.
This information was released in a statement by NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy Femi Babafemi on Sunday.
The NDLEA claimed that they conducted the operation because they had received information that people were about to host a party under the banner “Unholy Alliance…for Stoners and Drunkards” during which a variety of illegal substances would be sold and consumed.
The anti-narcotics agency claimed that its agents rushed in and arrested the suspects as they gathered in the Ofatedo neighborhood of Osogbo to kick off the party, seizing drugs and drug paraphernalia from them.
According to NDLEA, those arrested include: Ikotu Omolayo, 25; Fola Olabode, 30, and Akorede Adunni Ajibola, 22.
The agency also said that the Lounge’s management had been asked to participate in additional inquiries.

They had been loading 859 kilograms of cannabis sativa onto a truck along with sacks of sugar before continuing on to Mokwa in Niger State.
According to the NDLEA, the shipment was initially loaded in Ogbese, Ondo State, concealed in cement sacks on a truck, and then transferred to a trailer carrying sugar in Ogun State.
On Monday, November 20th, NDLEA agents in Edo State raided a warehouse in the Owan West LGA community of Obi Camp and seized 338 kilograms of cannabis hidden in sacks of charcoal.
