Two alleged kidnappers have been captured in Taraba State by soldiers from the 6th Brigade Garrison of the Nigerian Army.
In Jalingo, the state capital, they also rescued two hostages from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) region.
On Monday, Brigadier General Frank Etim issued a statement confirming the rumors.
According to him, the operation was carried out in the early hours of Sunday following credible intelligence regarding terrorists’ operations in the state city.
“Acting fast on the intelligence, the military executed a raid on the terrorists’ hideout, leading to the detention of Mr. Awwal Bobo, 32, and Mr. Sallau Abdul, 33.
“The rescued victims, identified as Mrs. Fauziyya Yusuf and Mr. Abdulsallam Abubakar, were safely extricated from the clutches of their captors,” he stated.
In his words, “efforts are underway to track down and apprehend the fleeing criminals,” after some of the suspects had gotten away upon seeing the advancing troops.
