Paul Amaechi, a farmer, was detained by the National Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) after he was accused of killing a herder who had come to graze cattle on his land.
Amaechi has come under suspicion after the mangled body of a herder was discovered on his farm in the village of Telemu in the Ago-Owu, Ayedaade Local Government Area of the state on Thursday.
On Friday, Kehinde Adeleke, a spokesman for the state NSCDC, confirmed the occurrence, saying that the victim’s remains had been removed from the area.
Police and the NSCDC worked together to apprehend Tiv farmer Paul Amaechi for the murder of a herder.
The defendant and his suspected accomplices had apparently set up an ambush for the herders, according to the eyewitness.
According to the witness, who is also a herder, Amaechi was upset because herders had damaged his land when they brought their cattle there to feed roughly two weeks ago.
