Advocacy for Justice and Good Governance (AJGG) has demanded that the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Isa Dederi, be prosecuted for accusing Appeal Court Justices of corruption.
In a statement issued Saturday, its coordinator, Francis Nzeoke, asked the Commissioner to come forth and identify the actual corrupt judges he was referring to.
The HEALTHYSPOT101 remembers that Dederi appeared on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ on Wednesday, where he made claims regarding Appeal Court justices.
According to the Coordinator, the recent developments in Kano around electoral litigations have caused state government officials to intimidate, harass, and slander the judiciary.
Nzeoke emphasized that the group, together with other non-governmental organizations, would speak out against any attempt by politicians to bully judges and justices.
He urged the Nigerian Bar Association to take proper disciplinary action against its erring members.
“We are requesting that the authorities question Dederi in order for him to provide evidence for all of the allegations he made on Channels Television.” If he is unable to do so, he should be arrested and prosecuted.
“We are concerned about the recent trend of politicians losing cases in court and resorting to threatening justices.” “It is a bad omen for our democracy and the rule of law,” claimed the group.
