On Saturday, Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima met with four governors from the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Iperu area of Ogun State. These governors are Babajide Sanwo Olu (Lagos), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Abdulrasak AbdulRahaman (Kwara), and Dapo Abiodun (Ogun).
Shettima stated that Nigeria’s multiethnic makeup should be viewed as a strength rather than a weakness.
The Vice President made these remarks at the Christ Apostolic Grammar School in Iperu Remo, the governor’s hometown and the location of the 37th annual Akesan Day.
He stated that President Bola Tinubu’s administration would always prioritize events that aim to commemorate the rich cultural legacy of all the tribes in the country because of the roles traditional institutions play in negotiating the complexities of the country’s diversity.
Shettima further observed that the commitment as espoused by the president to guarantee positive transformation in the lives of Nigerians stand firm and will work round the clock to achieve these aims.
We guarantee that things will improve for the people of Nigeria.
This kind of festival aims to bring people together across the country. Ogun state has always been a source of celebration of enduring cultural heritage and values that improves togetherness and progress.
We appreciate your bringing to our attention the importance of cultural celebration to the socioeconomic development of a nation. Diversity among us strengthens rather than weakens us. He remarked that it was proof of how flexible Americans are.
The governor of the state also spoke, promising that his administration will build on his successes to significantly improve living conditions there.
The victory of Governor Abiodun’s re-election appeal at the Appeal Court in Lagos on Friday made this year’s Akesan Day celebration a double celebration for him, as characterized by the governor.
