Shonibare Oluwasegun, a 36-year-old minibus driver, was allegedly stabbed to death by his landlord’s son after an argument about parking space in Lagos’s Ajah neighborhood.
According to eyewitnesses, the father of three returned home on Sunday night, November 19, 2023, and parked his minivan, commonly known as a ‘korope,’ in front of his complex at 24 Adewunmi Close, Ilaje Ajah.
Taiye Adebayo, his landlord’s son, reportedly beat on his door, jolting him awake.
According to eyewitnesses, the landlord’s son urged the tenant to go fetch his minibus from where it was parked. The late Oluwasegun, on the other hand, was alleged to have gone outside and claimed that the place was his customary parking position.
Adebayo allegedly stabbed Oluwasegun in several places on his body during an argument.
Shonibare Faid, the deceased’s elder brother, explained how he learned of his death: “I got a call from a private number at 1:29 am on a Sunday morning (19th of November 2023) that my brother was dead.” I arrived in Ajah at 6:20 a.m. and saw my brother’s lifeless body in a pool of his own blood, having been stabbed in various places of his body.”
