Ten individuals were injured by the storm in Nasarawa, four of whom have died and the others are in critical condition at a local hospital whose name has not been released.
Nasarawa garage in the Nasarawa Local Government Area was the scene of the incident on Saturday.
Eyewitness Mabudi described the events that transpired,
I just saw the most terrifying lightning strike I’ve ever seen in my life here in Nasarawa.
While having my car serviced at the Nasarawa Garage, I was startled by a rumbling sound and a brilliant flash. Many people, unsure of what it was, panicked and fled.
Three people tragically lost their lives after a lightning strike was discovered by a group of people who had gathered under a tree shortly after the thunderous incident.
Saying, “I’ve never seen anything scarier in my life,” is a common reaction. As Mabudi related.
Respected lawmaker Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim, who represents the Nasarawa Central seat and chairs the Committee on Women’s Affairs and Social Development, has expressed her deepest condolences to the bereaved families.
In a statement released on behalf of the government, Ibrahim said, “We commiserate with the families of those who lost their lives and sustained various degrees of injuries as a result of the thunder strike in Nasarawa Garage/Mechanic workshop Nasarawa Local Government.”
We ask ALLAH to provide those who were killed peace in the hereafter and strength for their loved ones to cope with their tragic loss.
