The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, has ordered the state’s Head of Service and Permanent Secretaries to provide each employee with a detailed job description and schedule of duties.
On Tuesday, when nine new permanent secretaries were being sworn into the state civil service, Buni delivered the charge.
He stated, “As you are aware, this administration recently employed approximately 2,600 degree graduates, diploma and NCE holders to fill-in the vacant positions in the state civil service to boost productivity.
In a charge to the office of the Head of Service and the Permanent Secretaries, he wrote, “I charge the office of the Head of Service and the Permanent Secretaries to promote schedule of responsibilities, giving every worker a duty to justify their employment and the resources expended on wages on civil servants.”
He thinks this will offer workers in the state a sense of community and participation, reduce instances of disengagement and absence, and ultimately boost energy and output.
He urged the newly appointed secretary to play well with others and to collaborate with the commissioners, directors, and other employees in their ministries and departments to achieve their goals.
“You are to display a high level of loyalty, sacrifice, and diligence to the machinery of governance in the service of Yobe State,” he exhorted.
Alhaji Modu, Umar Aji Suleiman, Abdulmumin Mamman, Tsoho Rabiu Garba, and Sani Mohammed Sama’ila are the five newly sworn-in permanent secretaries.
A few others are Baba Kachallah Geidam, Yusuf Hassan Yusuf, Bukar Aji Bukar, and Zainab Mohammed Ago. They’ve all been assigned to various state offices and departments.
